HC asks railway department on special trains between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

Mangaluru, June 6: A High Court division bench comprising acting chief justice of the HC, Justice S K Mukherjee, and Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, had asked the Department of Railways why special trains should not be run between Mangaluru and Bengaluru to provide relief to the passengers as the Shiradi Ghat stretch of the national highway is closed due to ongoing developmental works. The court sought the railway department to come out with a reply within a week.

Railways always introduce special trains during necessity. The Shiradi Ghat stretch repair works might take six months time to complete. The passengers are facing a lot of inconveniences due to the repair works. Hence the court, queried why special trains should not be introduced between these two important cities?.

The bench had taken up for hearing a public interest litigation filed by Bengaluru-based advocate from the city, Lata Ramesh, and S Pradip Kumar kalkura, issued this order.
