Police commissioner S Murugan speaking to the media said, the people were happy about it and we got good feedback. As the app received good response, it proved to be extremely useful; hence we decided to upgrade it with more features.

The modern version has been upgraded with important features considering the safety of women and children, and to especially prevent incidents of eve-teasing, harassment or threat. There is a provision for women to save the number of any person they trust as an emergency contact. When they are in distress, they can just shake the phone five times or press the power button five times, and the emergency contact they saved will get an SMS immediately, he said.

He said, people can directly report any incident to the police commissioner, the DCP or the control room. If a complaint has been filed, the status can be known by entering the case number. Also, if a person is not sure of where to file a complaint, the app will give information about the nearest police station.

He added that, there is also a list of emergency contact numbers, contact number of police officials, daily crime report, and information about parking lots and traffic offenses, along with live updates of traffic density.

This software has been developed by Glow Touch Technologies along with Diya System.

Police commissioner also said that till now, 20 complaints have been filed through the app.

The software developers and the police have taken special interest in this and studied and scanned the limits of all the 18 police stations while developing this app. In the past, complaints would not reach the police commissioner, but now with this app, it is possible. The website of the city police is also being upgraded, he said.

This app can be downloaded from Google Play Store by searching for Mangaluru City Police.

DCP Vishnuwardhan, CEO of Diya Systems B Ravichandran, and others were present.
