Mangaluru, May 29: An Uttar Pradesh based sub-contractor Vijayanarayan Vishwakarma (30) has ended his life for non payment of money owed to him by the company for which he had worked.

On Tuesday night, Vishwakarma committed suicide by hanging himself in his room at Tanniru Bhavi here. The incident came to light on Wednesday.

It is learnt that, since the past four and a half years, Vishwakarma worked as sub contractor for Bharathi Shipyard.

The company owed him more than Rs 10 lakhs for the work done. Vishwakarma had reminded the company several times about the payment. But the company neither made any payment nor showed a positive response.

Vishwakarma has written in his death note that he had to borrow a huge loan from others to carry out his work. He could not even return to his native without paying the amount. His request to make payment was not properly handled by the company chief Valentine Sequeira. Hence he took this extreme step of ending his life.

In a mobile message sent to the manager of the company, Vishwakarma has requested that the money owed to him should be paid to his father so that he can pay the amount to the people whom Vishwakarma owed.

As the family of the deceased was very poor, the funeral of Vishwakarma was held with the help of the police.

Panambur cops have filed a case against Valentine Sequeira.
