Initiate actions on unsafe quarries: DC Ibrahim

Mangaluru, May 23: It is the duty of local Thasildhar, and CEO’s to ensure that during rainy season, there is no loss of life due the unsafe quarries spread across the Dakshina Kannada District. Stringent actions will be initiated against the negligent officials, warned the Deputy Commissioner Adoor B Ibrahim.

This warning was issued in a meeting held in the DC office here with the officials of various departments to discuss on the precautionary measures to be taken ahead of the natural calamities and other problems which are faced during rainy season.

Although on May 7th, the officials were directed to take appropriate actions against the unsafe quarries. By the inadequate information provided by the officials during the meeting, the DC was dissatisfied with the answers and asked the concerned officials to use their power appropriately to make sure that the quarries are safe.

Along with the work of fencing the unsafe quarries of private parties and erecting indication boards by the concerned, the complete details of the quarries belonging to both the government and the private parties should be published in the respective taluk offices. By doing this, the public’s can file complaint against the illegal quarries which are functioning in the taluk, informed the deputy commissioner.
