National Surfing Championship event postponed to October.

Mangaluru, May 22:  In a press release, the Deputy Commissioner of DK district Adoor B Ibrahim on May 21st, Thursday informed that in view of the model code of conduct for the Gram Panchayat elections, the National Surfing Championship which was scheduled to be organized between May 29th and May 31st in Mangaluru was postponed.

The event is now rescheduled to be held in October 22nd and October 25th.

The Deputy Commissioner felt it would be difficult to invite people’s representatives in the district for the event in view of the model code of conduct.

The Mulki­ based Surfing Federation of India has expressed its disappointment with the postponement of the event.

Preparations for the event was going on and over 60 participants had registered for the event, which is being held for the first time in Karnataka.

Vice ­President of the federation, Rammohan Paranjape told the media, that the organizers did not seek any government funds for the event. He hoped that the event would be held as rescheduled for October.
