Mangaluru, May 13: The public participation is needed in curbing the contagious diseases, said Health Minister U T Khader. He addressed a press meet here after inspecting the betterment works at Lady Goschen Hospital in the city on Tuesday May 12th.
He said, the co-operation of the citizens, associations and firms is necessary along with the local firms, Zilla Panchayat and city administrative firms. Presently there are 60 nurses in the hospital but there is a 50 percent scarcity, hence the health department and the district administration have planned to increase the number of nurses in the hospital. Senior nurses in Wenlock hospitals will be deputed to Lady Goschen whenever necessary, and the nurses who complete their graduation from Wenlock will be given stipend. Stipend will be provided by the Wenlock Arogya Samiti, he said.
Presently in Lady Goshen hospital, gynaecologists and paediatrician’s team are functioning. But in the past one and a half month five deaths have occurred, hence the government has taken a serious note of the matter. The expert’s team are asked to submit a report on this. The next actions will be taken after the arrival of reports, said UT Khader.
The transfer of hospital superintendent between Lady Goschen and Wenlock hospital was done due to administrative reasons and not with any other intentions, informed U T Khader.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, ZP CEO Shreevidya, district health officer, and officials of Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals were present.
