Mangaluru, May 13: Burglary has taken place in Laxmidas Jewellers here before sunrise on Wednesday May 13th. Thieves stole gold and silver ornaments and articles worth Rs 7 lakhs, it is learnt.
It is reported that the thieves broke into the jewellery shop at around 10 pm, and were there until 4 am. Their movements were caught in the CCTV cameras housed in the shop.
Sources said that at around 3 am, the thieves were carrying a silver statue out of the jewellery store. Meanwhile, the employees of a nearby pub who saw them raised an alarm and informed the police. The burglars then dropped the silver statue and escaped, it is learnt.
The Bunder police inspected the spot and further investigations are on.
