Bantwal, May 11: A person who was working as a village accountant of Thumbay in the Revenue Department has committed suicide by consuming poison in a Mangaluru lodge. The matter came to light on Sunday, May 10th.

The deceased is identified as Chidananda (33).

On Sunday afternoon, the body was handed over to the family members and later the funeral was held at Mysuru.

The six page death note left behind by the deceased states that the reason for the death was personal. He has stated this extreme step was taken due to depression and a prediction by an astrologer. He has specified that family members and colleagues are not responsible for his death in any ways.

From 2006, Chidananda has been working in the same department. In the past he had worked in Alike and Kasba and had a brief training in between in Mysuru. He lived in a rented house in B Mooda along with his wife Chaithra and son Samrudh. He worked as village accountant at Thumbay. On Friday May 8th, he met his friend Shivappa at B C Road and told him that he was going to Mysuru.

But on Sunday it was found that Chidananda had committed suicide after consuming poison in a lodge in Mangaluru. The death note said that he was depressed by a prediction of an astrologer which said that his son Samrudh would die in an early age. The father did not want to see his son die in front of his eyes. The death note also says that he wished to see his son graduated as engineer or doctor which would not be possible as per the astrological prediction.

The deceased Chidananda has requested that his wrist watch be given to his friend Shivappa and his son Samrudh should perform his last rites.

Bantwal police Circle inspector K U Belliappa said that case would be further investigated.
