Demand on various issues; Protest by CITU against UPA government

Mangalore, June 14: Dakshina Kannada unit of CITU in association with various other Sanghatanas staged a protest against union government in front of deputy commissioner’s office on June 14, Friday demanding various issues at state and district level.

State Vice-President CITU P Madhavan addressing the protesters said that the UPA government was in power for the past four year and not responded to the needs of the poor. The laborers are facing lot of hardships due to increase in prices of daily essential commodities.

The state government which came to power recently has promised to solve the problems of the people and to make life easy for the common man. But now the life of the common man has become miserable.

The Chief Minister will be urged to interfere in this regard and be requested to supply essential commodities to the poor at cheaper rate. He further alleged that at the Centre there are plenty of foods in stock, which is enough to feed around six crore people, is decaying, even then UPA government is not ready to give to poor, he added

He further said that when the UPA government is about to step out from power they have passed the National Food Security Bill. This bill is not favorable or helpful to the common man.

He then mentioned that merging the bank account number and Aadhar number to get the gas subsidy is a wrong decision. Many of the citizens have not got their Aaadhar cards. He also expressed his agony in the scholarship fund which is not received by the Beedi worker’s children who do not have their aadhar number.

Secretary Vasanth Acharya,J Balakrishna Shetty,President,Sunil Kumar Bajal and other members of CITU were also present.
