Hyderabad man detained at MIA for carrying illegal gold in airways.

Mangaluru, April 28: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Monday April 27th arrested a passenger and seized gold worth Rs 50.55 lakhs.

The accused passenger, identified as Mohammed Luqman Ahmed (29), is a resident of Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh state.

The officials seized 16 ten-tola gold bars altogether weighing 1865.650 grams, valued at Rs 50,55,912.

The gold bars were found concealed beneath the seat in a Jet Airways aircraft from Dubai in which he had arrived at around 9.30 am on Monday.

Accused Ahmed was arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate, Mangaluru, and is sent for remand. Further investigation is going on.
