Mangaluru, April 26: A woman lost her life in a tragic accident in front of Sahara hospital in Thokkottu here on Sunday April 26th. Maimuna (50), resident of Krishnapura is the deceased.
Maimuna along with her son had arrived to attend a wedding of their relative at Kallapu Unity hall. This accident took place post the wedding, while she and her son were on their way to Ullal Uroos.
Maimuna was the sitting pillion while her son was riding the Activa scooter. When they reached near Sahara hospital, their Activa got stuck in big pothole on the edge of the national highway 66, because of which Maimuna lost balance and fell on the road. Meanwhile, a garbage truck, which was behind the scooter, ran over Maimuna killing her instantly on the spot.The garbage truck was moving from Mangaluru to Thokkottu. Post the accident, traffic on the highway was effected for sometime.
The Ullal police rushed to the spot, investigated and made way for traffic. They also erected a barricade near the pothole to ensure safety of other commuters.The locals who were at the spot were furious over the bad condition of the highway, which they claimed as the cause for Maimuna’s death.
Ullal police have registered a case.
