Mangaluru, April 22: Media Alumni Association of Mangalagangothri (MAAM) on the occasion of completion of 25-years of department of Mass Communication and Journalism in Mangalagangothri, has organized a panel discussion on “The Contributions of Mangalore University in regional development” at T V Raman Pai Memorial Hall here on April 26th.

The discussion will be presided over by Dr B M Hegde, former Vice Chancellor, Manipal University, while K Byrappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, will present the concluding remarks.

P S Yadapadithaya, registrar, Mangalore University; K Chinnappa Gowda, Dean, Arts Faculty and director, Yakshagana Centre, Mangalore University; Sripathi Tantri, member of committee for the establishment of Mangalore University; Dr Norbert Lobo, President, Association of Mangalore University College Teachers(AMUCT) will be the panelists.

Prior to the panel discussion, MAAM will honour Mangaluru bureau chief of Udayavani Kannada Daily, Manohar Prasad in recognition of his three decades of service to the field of Journalism.

Ministers B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, and K Abhayachandra Jain, Member of Parliament- Nalin Kumar Kateel, M N Rajendra Kumar, president, SCDCC Bank; Sudhakara Pejavara, director, Aeromodern Shipping, Dubai; K Byrappa will be the guests.

On this occasion, a souvenir, “Manobhinandana” will be released by Sandhya Pai, managing editor, Taranga.  The felicitation ceremony will be presided over by Venu Sharma, president, MAAM.
