Aadhar card found in scrap shop – Postman suspended for dereliction of duty.

Puttur, April 21: Over 30 Aadhar cards which were meant to be delivered to the respective addressees were recovered from among the scrap pile which belonged to a scrap dealer at Bellare near here; pertaining to this issue suspension was ordered for a postman.

The entire bundle of Aadhar cards were addressed to the residents of Chokkady post office jurisdiction in the taluk. In relation to this case, suspension was ordered on Monday, April 20th to Girish- the postman of Chokkady.

The said scrap shop dealt with wastepaper and other scrap at Bellare. On the evening of April 16th, while sorting the piles of scrap, the shop owner was anxious after finding over 30 Aadhar cards inside a bundle of newspapers. All these cards possessed address of Chokkady within Amarapadnur village. These cards which were meant to be distributed through Chokkady sub post office, had directly reached the scrap shop instead of being delivered to the respective destinations.

In relation to the incident, inquiry was conducted at Chokkady on Friday by Rajeev- the Postal Inspector of Sullia subdivision.

Aadhar cards found in the scraps shop as well as the undelivered cards which remained at Chokkdy sub post office were taken into his custody and the postman was suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty.
