Mangalore,April.20: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath – cleanliness drive on 12th consecutive Sunday on the 19th April at DC Office premises in Mangalore. The drive was inaugurated by Dr Satish Rao, Renowned Psychiatrist in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji.
Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Sri Shubhoday Alva, Sri Shivakumar K, Sri Satyanarayana K V, NSS Coordinator Smt. Vineetha Rai and other eminent persons were present at the venue.
Alumni association of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashrama, Students of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashrama and other devotees and well-wishers of the Ashrama took an active part in the drive.
One batch of volunteers cleared the garbage, plastic and other pieces of papers strewn here and there and cleaned the campus. Another batch of volunteers cleared the sand accumulated beside the footpath and road and helped in easy traffic movement on the road. Pieces of glass, stones and sand were removed from the parking slot to facilitate parking of more vehicles. Due to lack of signboard at a prominent place visitors were put to inconvenience which was addressed by our volunteers by putting up a new sign board indicating directions of various offices located in the campus. Our volunteers also distributed the pamphlets on awareness in the nearby area. The drive was carried out from 7.30 am to 10.30 am on the 19th April.
