Foreign students including a keralite arrested for stabbing local youths.

Mangaluru, April 19: It is alleged that five local youths were stabbed late night on Saturday April 18th by a group of non- Karnataka students.

Dhananjay, Charan, Avinash, Sandesh and Manoj were allegedly assaulted and stabbed by the group.

The arrested accused, are Sadique from Kerala, Jilani and Al Ameen from Sudan, and Hayal, Bilal, and Qamaruddin, from Syria.

It is learnt that the five local youths were standing close to a restaurant during the late night on Saturday. Meanwhile, the accused who arrived by bikes; teased them by passing some comments. The five who were raged by this then followed them till Kodial Guttu, where a verbal clash erupted between the two groups. Following the fight, Dhananjay, Charan, Avinash, Sandesh and Manoj were allegedly stabbed by the other group.

The injured five members have been admitted to hospital and among them Dhananjay and Manoj are said to be serious. On the basis of their complaint, the cops have arrested the six accused.

It is learnt the Syrians, Sudanese and the Keralite are all pursuing studies in various colleges in the city.

There was no history of rivalry between the two groups, said the police sources. The accused have filed a counter case against the local youths, it is learnt.

A case has been registered by Barke cops.
