Mangaluru, April 14: Fish crates which belonged to Abdul Aziz, a fish trader were set ablaze by miscreants at Bunder port here on Tuesday April 14th.
The crates were placed near the area where boats were anchored. At around 1.30 am in the night, some miscreants came to the spot who allegedly lit fire to the boxes. Locals who saw the fire, acted swiftly and managed to subside the fire.
As many as 500 crates were charred, each worth Rs 600, summing the total loss at Rs 3 lakhs.
The boats were not damaged.
Locals said that from the past few days few people had been trying to create trouble in the vicinity. Though a complaint was given to the police, they just issued a warning, but serious actions were not initiated, they said.
A case is registered at Bunder police station.
