Mangaluru, April 10: A debate and guidance camp with children from all the gram panchayats was organised at Nethravathy Hall in Zilla Panchayat here on Friday, April 10th,which was jointly organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Karnataka Balavikasa Academy-Women’s and Children welfare department and the District Children’s Protection Unit.
The event was inaugurated and presided over by the DK Zilla Panchayat President- Asha Thimmappa Gowda.
Children expressed their grievances before the authorities during the programme. Students from various schools expressed grievances such as lack of toilet facility, lack of computer teachers, water issues, lack of books, etc.
The ZP which heard all the concerns put forward by the students assured them that they will provide solution for all these problems.
On this occasion, children were educated about Juvenile justice Act, child helpline, and children’s security committee in the schools.
Children were given information on POCSO Act, as well as good and bad touch. A tele-film on ill-effects post the child marriage was also displayed to the children to create awareness among the children.
A career guidance program to the children was also organised on this occasion.
DK Zilla Panchayat Vice President Sathish Kumpala, Meenakshi Manjunath-Social Justice Standing Committee President, ZP CEO Sreevidya P I, ACP G V Subramanya, K Nikhesh Shetty-President of Children Welfare Committee DK District, Walter D’Mello, Deputy Director, Department of Education were present as the chief guests on this occasion.
