Mangaluru, April 10: In a press meet organised by the Joint committee of sand contractors, boat transporters, workers in the sand supply industry and transporters of building materials, it has been informed that they have opened a call centre to provide information pertained to sand supply. The headquarters of joint committee is housed at Pumpwell in here.
This joint committee along with co operation of District Administration, Mines and Geological Department of Dakshina Kannada has opened a helpline facility where one can call the number 8088869869 and obtain various information on sand like supply details, price, suggestions etc. They can also book sand by calling over the phone.
Calls will be received 24 hours of the day where one is welcomed with a recorded message. The conversation will be recorded and the database of records is kept for better efficiency in management and information from the calls will be dealt with diligently, the joint committee has stated.
Concrete sand is available at Rs 3,000 and fine sand is available at Rs 3,500 for the first 10 kilometres for Unit 2. And for unit 3, concrete is charged at Rs 4,500 and fine sand is charged at Rs 5,250 for the first 10 kilometres. For both services a service fee of Rs 100 is charged in each case. Every additional 5 kilometres will be charged Rs 500.
Any place from the district is considered. During the call, delivery date is fixed and other details will also be revealed. Three depots are Kallapu, Adyar and Kuloor. 10 kilometre areas within these depots are specified as Ullal, B C Road and Suratkal respectively. Mangaluru city falls under all depots.
Orders will be delivered within 24 hours of receiving the call. E search vehicle monitoring and analysis Mangaluru has given technical assistance for the above service.
