Mangaluru, April 6: Demanding house sites for the poor, a 24 hour protest is staged by the CPIM in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation here on Monday, April 6th.
G.V.Srirama Reddy, secretary of the State unit of the party addressed the protesters and pointed that the government had hiked the salaries of MLAs, MLCs and ministers, but the same elected representatives were not bothered about ensuring sites for poor people.
Vasantha Achari, district committee member of the party said, from a long time, numerous poor applicants were waiting for the house site after submitting all the necessary documents. He said, government was reserving 100 acre for corporate investors. When it comes to the matter of allotting sites for the poor, officials’ claim of unavailability of government land, he said.
Protest will continue till Tuesday, said the protesters.
