Mangaluru, April 6: The locals caught a youth who jumped over the compound wall of a house and was found behaving suspiciously near Kolya here on Sunday April 5th. They thrashed the youth before handing him to the cops.
Sattar (25) from Mastikatte was seen jumping over the compound wall of a house situated near Shree Mookambika Temple in Kolya near the national highway during late night on Sunday. The family members who were in the house noticed him jumping over the wall and came out to catch hold of him. Seeing them, Sattar escaped and hid inside an empty compound near the temple.
The locals caught hold of him and began questioning him. Sattar began to blabber and acted in suspicious manner. Later they thrashed him, but he still did not speak. The locals expressed suspicions that Sattar was under the influence of ganja.
The Ullal cops arrived at the spot on receiving information. Even when the police probed, Sattar did not speak. Later, he was shifted to a hospital and then taken into custody.
Recently, gold jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees was stolen from a house in the same neighbourhood.
Sattar was spotted at the same place.
Sources said, Sattar is employed in a garment shop in Mangaluru.
