Mangalore/Udipi, June 7: It has been reported that yet an another incident reported from udipi immediately after an hour, similar to the incident which took place in the city, which is suffice to prove that an international gang of robbers operating in the state especially in the twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udipi.
The incident occurred near Chittaranjan circle on June 6, Thursday.
The couple, Nagaraj and his wife Bharathi who came from Andhra Pradesh to attend wedding at Sree Krishna temple and after finishing marriage rituals they came out and were walking near Chittaranjan circle. As they were walking, two men came in bike on their way and accosted the couple near the circle and told them that they are from police department. Sources also said that they were dressed in police clothes.
Like in Mangalore case, the men told the couple that in the recent past many robberies had taken place in the area and they should take care of their gold and other man who was pretending as if he was going to help the couple.
Bharathi, who believed that story told by the men might be correct and removed her gold ornaments worth Rs 1.3 lac, began to put in her bag with the help of men, who vanished from the spot immediately.
The couple then walked towards the bus stand and saw few policemen standing there, to whom they narrated what had just taken place. Only then they realized that their gold had gone missing and that the men had stolen them
Bharathi lost mangalasutra weighing four sovereigns and chain of about one and half sovereigns.
The bike used by the robbers had a Maharashtra registration and while one of the robbers spoke Kannada and other in Hindi. It is said that after looting the couple they proceeded towards national highway
The police alerted the control room and launched a search operation for the culprits. Udipi town police have registered a case.
