Mangaluru, Mar 20: Suratkal cops have arrested four accused, pertaining to the incident in which a bike rider was waylaid near Chokkabettu at Krishnapura, Suratkal on December 23rd, 2014.
The arrested are namely Shamir Hamza alias Hamza (31), resident of Manjanady, Shabbir (28) resident of Belma near Deralakatte, Nazeem Hafiz (25) from Suratkal Iddya Guddekopla, and Muhammed Asif (24), resident of Janatha Colony near Suratkal.
Muhammed Sharin was employed at a general store in Chokkabettu. Sharin’s friend Naheem had asked him to go to Kavoor by bike and hand over Naheem’s cash and gold jewellery belonging to Naheem’s sister-in-law to his relatives wedding function. On learning this news, Sharin’s neighbour Nazeem Hafiz, informed Shabbir and others of a plan to rob this cash and gold.
The main accused Raja and Hamza, blocked Sharin’s bike near Chokkabettu bridge and burgled the cash and jewellery. The bike used for this burglary belongs to a friend of Hamza and the burgled jewellery is yet to be recovered.
The arrested men have been produced in the court. The police are on a lookout to arrest the main accused Raja, along with other accused, it is learnt.
