Mangaluru, March 16: Former union minister and Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary on Monday March 16th, addressing a press meet praised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for presenting a good budget which would benefit all citizens.
The chief Minister by providing 25 kg of penny free rice to the poor, has fulfilled the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. Neither Mayawati who is a Dalit CM, nor any other Congress party CM has done this, he said.
Poojary said, by allocating Rs 16,200 crore for the education, this budget has given importance to primary and high school education. This was a highest amount allotted for education. The CM has even allotted huge amounts for health and irrigation sectors, he added.
Also, at 2 percent interest, Rs 2 lakh loans will be given and 50 percent subsidy to toddy tappers. The announcement to allow extraction of toddy from coconut trees will help coconut growers, he opined.
Poojary said, the budget also gives importance to Ahinda with an intention of developing the downtrodden and raise them up to the mainstream and also educate them. He also urged the state government to form a separate department to look after the implementation of the projects and also to work against corruption. Citizens should click photos of erring officials and send them to the department in order to curb corruption.

During the press meet, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Nazeer Bajal, T K Sudhir, congress leader Vijaykumar Shetty was present among others.
