Mangaluru, March 14: A motivational interaction with Ashwini Angadi for students was organized by Yuva Brigade at TV Ramana Pai hall in the city on Saturday March 14th.
Ashwini Angadi, the visually impaired recipient of UN Special Envoy for Gordon Brown Youth Achiever’s Award and also a national facilitator with ‘Young Voices’ addressed the students and interacted with them on this occasion.
Ashwini Angadi(25), who was born visually impaired, recalled her past and said that she was born in a joint family at Chellagurki village in Ballari. Even though her family was upset about her visual impairment, later she was admitted to Ramana Maharishi School for the Blind. She explained the hardships faced by her while she perused her education.
She continued further and said, after doing some self-analysis; I quit the HR job because I felt the need to serve the society. Currently I am leading Young Voices – a project by the UK-based Leonard Cheshire Disability in India. Without taking assistance from anyone, I have travelled to Ranchi, Delhi and Mumbai, she said.
Ashwini said, sacrifice and service to society can give an everlasting happiness to one. She also interacted with the students later and answered their queries.
M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SCDCC Bank said, instead of living for self, a person should live for others. Youth should have an aim, with right aim and confidence one can achieve success. The progress of the country is affected as the people fail to work hard. On this occasion, students had participated in large numbers.
