As minister had asked for a month’s time to resolve the issue and hence decided to wait, he said.

He said a positive point which emerged from the meeting with Khader was that he had planned to constitute a committee of experts to look into the issue, which he would head.
Gowda said the government has to take the issue of rehabilitation and compensation to victims of endosulfan poisoning seriously. Gowda is visually impaired due to alleged endosulfan poisoning.
The committee had earlier decided to protest on May 21, which was postponed to June 7 to give time to the newly elected government to take stock of the situation.
The samithi has placed a 12-point charter of demands which includes one-time Rs 5 lakh compensation and Rs 5,000 monthly pension; permanent rehabilitation centre for each taluk and day care centre for a cluster of five villages; free scanning for pregnant women employment to a member of each affected household.
