Mangaluru, Feb 27: A terrible accident occurred at Nanthoor Junction in the city, in which three persons died and three were injured on the evening of Friday February 27th.
A tipper moving from Nanthoor towards Pumpwell, hit an electricity pole after it suffered break failure reportedly. The lorry then collided to an Alto car, the car in turn collided to a Pulsar bike.
A family of four were travelling by the car. Among them, the woman expired on the spot and others were seriously injured. The alto car is badly mangled after the accident.
Udaya Nayak ACP (traffic) said that the deceased are identified as Veena (40), her son Nitesh (13) and Pulsar bike rider Preetham (21) who died in the accident.
The two injured in the accident are the occupants of the car identified as Krishna(45) and his daughter Nikitha (10).
It is said, Veena was a teacher at central school in Panambur. Krishna is the headmaster of the central school at Panambur. He is originally from Adyanadka near Vittal and the family was staying at a quarters at Panambur. At the time of the accident, the family was travelling to Adyanadka, it is learnt.
Preetham Pinto, a student from Kasargod was riding the bike. The other injured was Shwetha, who was riding pillion on the bike, sustained serious injuries to her leg.
Deceased Preetham Pinto was the son of Peter and Macreen Pinto, hailing from Narampady, Badiadka.
Soon after the accident, the lorry driver fled from the spot.
A case is registered in Kadri police station.
