Cops arrest two men while transporting smuggled gold worth Rs 35 lakhs in bus.

Kasargod, February 27: Two men have been held by kasargod cops on the charges of transporting smuggled gold weighing 1.25 kg in a bus.

The arrested men are identified as Mohammed Rafiq (28), resident of Melbaramba and Abdul Kunhi (22), resident of Koliadka.

These two men possessing gold from Sharjah had arrived at Bengaluru airport. They deceived the customs officials. They travelled to Sullia, and were later travelling to Kasargod in a KSRTC bus.

The cops on a tip-off traced the gold possessed by the accused. The gold in the form of sheets in four suitcases were concealed inside their covers.

Value of seized gold is said to be Rs 35 lakhs.
