Youth Congress protests against the union government urging reduction in current petrol and diesel prices.

Mangaluru, February 20:  Youth Congress- Dakshina Kannada unit staged a stir against the union government urging to reduce the petrol and diesel prices and during the protest Youth Congress members sold petrol at Rs 30 per litre on Thursday February 19th.

Although the oil prices in the international market has fallen down, the union government has failed to bring down the prices of diesel and petrol, expressing dissatisfaction over this the youth congress local unit had staged a protest in front of the DK district congress office here.

The protesters also shouted slogans against the union government and alleged that prior to the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised of getting back black money but he has failed to do it.

Mithun Rai, district Youth Congress president, addressed the protesters and said, the citizens are cheated by union government. In the past, UPA government had provided petrol for Rs 67 when the international price per barrel was 145 dollars. But now the international petrol price has fallen to 45 dollars per barrel, but the BJP-led union government has failed to bring down the prices accordingly.

During the protest S K Arthanari- General Secretary of Youth Congress, Raveendradas -Secretary, Praveen Chandra Alva, Nazir Bajal, Nemiraj Shetty, Suhail among others had participated.
