Vamanjoor slightly tensed after a brawl erupts between two groups.

Mangaluru, February 19: A group of people has badly assaulted a youth at Moodushedde Shivanagar near Vamanjoor in Mangaluru taluk on Wednesday.

A tension prevailed in Vamanjoor and surrounding areas after the incident. Additional police force was deployed to avoid untoward incidents.

The assaulted youth has been identified as Imran, a resident of Shivanagar.

It is gathered that clash took place between Manikantha who was driving a city bus and Saifuddin who was riding a two­ wheeler over overtaking their vehicles near Vamanjoor junction at around 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Later, Saifuddin had followed the city bus, waylaid the driver and threatened the driver using abusive words, it is said. The police have informed that Saifuddin and few others had pelted stones at the same bus at 9.30 p.m. the same day.

It is said that this brawl gradually resulted in a communal clash between two groups belonging to different communities and the group led by Manikantha assaulted Imran who belonged to Saifuddin’s group.

Kavoor cops have registered a case. 30 members have been booked in relation to the assault and clash. After Tuesday’s clash police had arrested city bus driver Manikantha and Saifuddin, both residents of Moodushedde.

Cops have arrested six more persons on Wednesday, February 18th in relation to the assault.
