Udupi, February 16: A women who was allegedly trying to steal at a marriage function here was caught by the locals at Udyavar on Sunday, February 15th.
The woman, who has identified herself as Roja from Salem, Tamil Nadu, has been taken for inquiry.
It is said that uninvited Roja had attended a wedding that was being held at Halima Sabju hall at Udyavar on Sunday. Wearing a burkha, she had reportedly moved around suspiciously. When she was questioned by the people at the wedding, she ran out of the hall, and on reaching the highway, threw away a purse she was carrying.
The locals as well as the people who gathered at the wedding chased her and managed to catch her and handed her over to Kaup police. On probing, she said that she was Roja from Salem, and said that she went to the wedding only to have lunch and not to steal. Detailed investigations are underway.
