Mangaluru, February 10: The 5th Alumni day celebration of alumni association of Shree Gokarnanatheshwara College is scheduled to be held on Friday, February 13th at 5.00 pm in the college auditorium, informed Naveen Chandra B, the president of the association.
Addressing a press conference organized in press club here, he said the association is stepping for the 5th year and on this occasion the Alumni day celebration will be organized in a unique manner and to make it memorable, he said.
The event will be presided over by B Devdas, president of the Shree Venakatesh Shiva Bhakthi Yoga Sangha. Former students such as Dr Leonard Machado, Premananda Shetty- opposite party leader of the MCC, S Jayavikrama- correspondent of the College, C A Nandagopal Shenoy- charted accountant and others will participate as the chief guests.
Retired professor Dr Narashima Murthy, Dr Jayaprakash Rao-Director –AJ Institute of Management, former students of the college Yogya Rai, and Sadashiva Shetty will be felicitated on this occasion, he informed. Cultural programme will also be exhibited on this occasion.
During the last academic year and this year, the association had organized leadership training program, personality development programme and other activities for the students of the college and is striving for the overall development of the college.
Nandagopal Shenoy, Vice-President of the assocaition who offers scholarships yearly for the needy and eligible students, will be giving scholarships even this year for 10 students of an amount of about Rs 1.20 lakhs. Along with this, he also supports as the backbone for all the activities organized by the association, explained Naveen Chandra.
The association has undertaken a great job of recognizing and felicitating the former students of the college who have engaged themselves in various levels of the society. Along with this the association has undertaken the job of felicitating the retired lecturers of the college.
The association also organizes sport activities yearly to bring all the former students together and is also chalking out new projects. Overall, since four years; the association with social thoughts is moving forward with its good activities, said Naveen Chandra.
In the press conference, the Vice-President of the association Nandagopal Shenoy, Secretary Sunil Dutt Pai, Treasurer Dhananjay Nayak , member Rajesh were present.
