Mangaluru, February 7: Duo brothers who were alleged of raping a minor girl were arrested by Ullal cops.
The Ullal police have arrested two brothers for allegedly raping a minor girl twice in two months. One of the accused was caught by the public, thrashed and then handed over to the police.
The cops have arrested the accused Basheer (35) and his brother Rashid (34).
It is gathered that on December 26th, 2014, Basheer barged into the house of 14-year-old minor girl while she was alone. Stating that he loves her, he took her into a room and allegedly raped her. He even threatened her of life if she revealed the incident to anyone.
On January 25th, Basheer’s brother Rashid went to the same girl’s house when she was alone, and allegedly raped her. He too threatened to kill her, it is learnt.
The girl had remained silent frightened by the threats.
Both the accused had developed phonic contact with the girl, and that is how the incident came to light. The minor girl’s parents, seeing her speaking over the phone, after inquiring the girl had learnt about the brothers. The parents decided to take matters into their own hands, and asked their daughter to call the brothers by phone and tell them to come to a hotel at Thokkottu. The hotel is said to be owned by the brothers. When Basheer reached there, the parents along with the locals caught and thrashed him, before handing him over to Ullal police.
Initially the issue was settled through compromise, but the girl revealed about the rape during further questioning.
Based on this, the Ullal cops arrested the brothers and booked them under sections 448 (trespassing), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and under POCSO Act.
Basheer is said to have married twice, and has separated from both the wives.
