Mangaluru, February 7: The Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim has informed that the Karnataka State Tulu Sahitya Academy would be shifted soon to the Tulu Bhavan building which is under construction near Urwa stores in the city, at a cost of Rs 5 crores.
DC inspected the construction works being carried out at the Tulu Bhavan on Friday morning and directed to hold talks with the experts and architects within a month to make necessary arrangements at the rangamandir.
The government has already released Rs 4 crores for the Tulu Bhavan construction works.
As the construction works of the ground floor of the building is already completed, the academy office which is currently functioning in the building of Mangalore City Corporation will be shifted, said the DC.
The DC also suggested convening talks on giving chance to organize activities of Konkani and Beary Sahitya Academie’s along with the Tulu Academy, as the Tulu Bahvan is spacious.
The constriction works of TuluBhavan was begun during 2012 and expected to be finished by August. The DC instructed to complete the delayed constructions of Tulu Bahvan within next six months after discussing with the engineers and authorities.
President of Tulu Academy, Janaki Bramhavara speaking on the occasion said, currently the academy’s office which is functioning at the MCC is paying a rent of Rs 3000/- per month. Since the office will be shifted to its own building, they can avoid paying the rents, she said.
The registrar of academy, Chandrahas Rai speaking on the occasion said, apart from the construction works of the building, additional amount of one crore is needed for other works along with light and sound arrangements, furniture’s, interior works of Rangamandir.
The members of the academy Jayasheela, D M Kulal, engineers Harish and Rajesh were present.
