Private bus driver assaulted by auto rickshaw drivers at Mulky

Mangaluru, February 4: An incident is reported to have occurred at the main bus stand in Mulky in which three auto drivers have assaulted a private bus driver and threatened him of life on Tuesday February 3rd.

The victim Abdul Shukkur (32), driver of a private bus, residing at Suratkal Chokkabettu, was assaulted by the attackers who are identified as Santosh Shetty (32) from Hejamady, Wilfred D’Souza (28), who lives at Kollur near Kavathar, Mulky, and Kishore Shetty (31) from Kavathar. The Mulky cops have arrested all the three in relation to this incident.

It is gathered that a patient, who was in need of urgent treatment, was being taken to a hospital in an auto rickshaw. Meanwhile, a private express bus plying between Mangaluru and Udupi came too close to the three-wheeler. The auto rickshaw driver, in an attempt to avoid being hit by the bus, moved his vehicle to the extreme left side, after which his vehicle leaned over the roadside mud wall and stopped.

It is learnt that, angered by these events, three auto rickshaw drivers came to Mulky bus stand and attacked the driver at fault, and threatened him of life. Mulky cops rushed to the spot immediately and initiated appropriate actions. A huge crowd had gathered at the busy spot to watch the fight.

It is learnt that, the injured bus driver was admitted into a private hospital in Suratkal.

The cops have revealed that, the three accused have been produced before the judge at Moodbidri court.
