Mangaluru, January 24: Protest was staged by BJP activists in front of Mulky police station on Friday, January 23rd evening opposing the arrest of the youth in connection to a fight that erupted between two groups on the night of Thursday January 22nd.

The arrested were Ganesh (45), Nithin (19), Niyaz, Fayaz, Hafiz and Imran. Fight had erupted after arguments arose between them about the issue of a parking of a bike. Old rivalry was said to have led to the fight.

BJP vice-president Umanath Kotian said, “It is condemnable that the cops have registered attempt to murder cases against the victims and arrested them. The other group had entered the houses of innocent people and posed death threats to them. The soft attitude of the police towards the assaulters has aroused suspicion”.

He said, “There were about 20 people in the group who had assaulted. Only four of them were arrested and are freed now on bail”.

“The remaining suspects should be arrested soon and unbiased investigation should be conducted. Otherwise, Mulky bundh will be called in protest,” he warned.

Police inspector Ramachandra Nayak responded to the protesters and assured that the case will be looked into and the remaining suspects will be arrested soon. The protest was called off after the assurance from the police inspector.

During the protest, BJP leaders Sucharitha Shetty, Sathish Anchan, K Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Sudarshan, Ishwar Kateel, Shailesh, Sunil Alva, Deva Prasad Punarooru, Ranganatha Shetty, Kasturi Panja, Vindo Bolluru, were present among others.
