Karkala is all set to celebrate Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagwan Bahubali from January 21st

Karkala, January 20: Only a day is left for the ‘Mahamasthakabhisheka’ of Bhagwan Bahubali on this auspicious occasion certain programmes are being organized for the welfare of the world as well as the mankind, informed M N Rajendrakumar the president of Mahamsthakabhisheka committee chairman.

Speaking at a press conference organized at the associations office in the foot of the Gomatta hill in Karkala, Rajendrakumar has said that the association along with other associations are striving for the success of the Mahamasthakabhisheka organized under the leadership of Rajaguru Dhanayoji Swasthishree Lalithakerthi Bhattaraka Bhattacharya Mahaswamiji of Karkala Jain Mutt and Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

This year, Mahamastakabhisheka is being held from January 21st to 31st and the local administration, organizing committee, district administration and state government have made all preparations for the successful celebrations of the event. Beautification works of the city at a cost of Rs 13.5 crores, road widening works of 18 streets falling under the municipality jurisdiction are completed. To ensure safety, for the first time iron frames are installed for the Mamajjana of the 42 feet Idol of Bahubali. In this five storied frame, about 400-500 devotees can watch the abhisheka at a time.

Offerings such as 250 litres of tender coconut water, 200 litres of sugarcane juice, 50 kg of powdered rice, 50 kg of turmeric, 100 kg of ‘kashaya’, 300 litres of sandalwood oil, 70 kg of sandalwood paste, 50 kg of ‘astagandha’, 50 kg of ‘pushpavrasti’, coins, 60 feet long garland etc will be offered to Bahubali.

The local administration has made arrangement to provide water in giant storage tanks at various places for the convenience of people converging on the town for the event. Over 50 make-shift bathrooms and toilets are being erected. Hundred additional personnel have been hired to attend to hygiene and cleanliness. About three tank fulls of various items flowing down the statue after being bathed with them, are expected to be collected in tankers and taken elsewhere, without allowing them to flow down. As many as 400 stalls have been set up, and generators have been installed.

Six foot stage has been set up in the outer premises of the hill where 3000 people will be able to watch the Mahamasthakabhisheka at a time. Parking arrangements are made in five places and CCTV cameras are installed all over to ensure security, informed Rajendrakumar.

Stage programs and cultural activities will take place in Pattanna Shetty Ground. Attractive exhibition is stalled over 3.5 acres of land in the foot hill. Around 350 stalls along with different government departments will participate in this exhibition. Amusement park is also stationed for the entertainment of children and cultural programs will be organized in all days. Along with this agricultural fair will also be organized, he said.

In the wake of Mahamasthakabhisheka the schools and colleges in the city along with other institutions will be declared holiday. The boarding facilities will be provided in Schools and colleges. The association wishes that people from all communities in the city should celebrate this event as a local fest, said Rajendrakumar.

In the press conference, M K Vijaykumar, general secretary, treasurer Jeevandara Ballal, secretary K Venugopala Kadamba, Vice-president Jeevandhar Kumar, S D Sampath Samrajya, Prabhath Kumar, Pushparaj Jain, M K Suvruth Kumar and others were present.
