Litigations in the neighbourhood- Footwear stuck with PM Modi’s photograph hung over the gate.

Mangaluru January 19: An act of revenge was alleged after a dispute arose between neighbours, in which footwear attached with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph was found hung on the gate of a house at Mudipodi near Kallapupatla, Thokkottu outskirts of the city on Monday January 19th.

The above said house belongs to Jayarama Shetty, son of former senior Congress leader late Mahabala Shetty. Jayarama Shetty was not at his house when the incident was traced.

It is gathered that, the residence of Jayarama is situated amidst the estate and is in a lower altitude area compared to other 50 houses in the area. Hence the sewage water from these houses flow towards Jayarama’s house which has contaminated the water in his well and pond as well. Regarding this issue, Jayarama had complained to the municipality and the district administration. 

Contamination was also confirmed by the Health officials. Since no action was initiated from any quarters, Jayarama on own made arrangements to stop the water reaching his well.

Pertaining to this issue, some of his neighbours reportedly had a dispute. It is said, recently a group of people had even allegedly threatened him by brandishing wooden sticks. Now, Anusuya Shetty, the mother of Jayarama says that a few youngsters did this humiliating act of hanging the footwear with the PM’s photo to take revenge.

The spot has been inspected by Ullal police station officer Savithra Taja, sub-inspector Bharathi and Shanthi D’Souza, the municipal member have inspected the place and assured of taking suitable actions concerned in the issue.

Roopa T Shetty Chief municipal officer who had visited the place said, after receiving complaint from Jayarama Shetty, I have visited this place thrice. Due to legal hurdles we could not do anything. We used bleaching powder to purify the waste water the last time. A permanent solution to fix the problem will be found within two months.

As of now, police complaint has not yet registered.
