Udupi, January 15: Miscreants have set fire to the house of the accused boy’s uncle during late night on Wednesday January 14th, following the recent death of a fourth standard student Sughosh (10) at Bannady, Upplady near Kota.
Sughosh Adiga had gone missing on last Saturday, and on Monday January 12th the body was retrieved from a well. The 15-year old minor boy was taken into custody, and as per his statement, he had thrown Sughosh’s body into a nearby well.
When the matter had come to light on Monday, some of the enraged locals had pelted stones at the house of the accused boy’s uncle Kalyan Kumar at Kota.
Unidentified miscreants during night on Wednesday, January 14th, had set fire to Kalyan Kumar’s house and caused heavy losses. Kalyan was alone at home at the time of the incident. He said that a group of 5-6 people came to his house and set it on fire. He said, he could not recognize them as it was dark. The roof, front door, windows, cow shed, stock of coconuts and some daily use items in the store room of the house were burnt. The fire service personnel’s who immediately arrived at the spot successfully extinguished the fire.
Udupi DySP Chandrashekar, circle inspector Arun Naik, SI K R Naik and other police personnel visited the spot and investigated. Forensic science team from Mangaluru have visited the spot and investigated.
Kota police have registered a case.
