Mangaluru, January 12: Moral policing has been reported from Boliyar in which a youth was badly assaulted reportedly by a team by late evening on Sunday, January 11th night at Rantadka Korangipalla near Boliyar. Following the incident, two teams who gathered at the venue involved in verbal altercation due to which tension prevailed in the area.
The assault victim is Padmanabha (35), resident of Bolittedi in Boliyar.
Residents of Boliyar Rantadka namely Siraj, Nisar, Aboobacquer, Ashraf, Bashir, Habib, two sons of R H Monu allegedly had involved in this act. It is learnt that the accused were involved in several criminal activities which has taken place in the locality.
Padmanabha who owns a hardware shop at Boliar Junction, was on his way back home by a pulsar bike at night 8.30 pm. On his way, he turned his bike since he had to pay some money to his friend Pammu who stays at Korangipalla in Rantadka. Meanwhile, a team of around 10-20 persons way laid the bike and pulled him from the bike and began to assault him. On hearing the cries of Padmanabha, people who knew him gathered at the spot requested the assaulters not to assault Padmanabha. This resulted in much verbal exchange and tension prevailed in the area. At that moment, an auto rickshaw driver who went to stop assault on Padmanabha was threatened and assaulted by the miscreants.
Konaje cops rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital in Deralakatte. Strict vigil has been deployed in the area.
This assault has paved way for various suspicions. It is said, the team of hallucinogenic addicts are involved in various criminal cases in Boliyar. Such kind of untoward incidents are taking place since they are not booked under stringent laws, it is said.
