Mangalore, May 25: A case of protest by DYFI (Democratic youth federation of India) has been reported in the city in front of deputy commissioner’s office on May 24, Friday, alleging that ACP T R Jagannath sexually harassed ASI Shrikala and urged DC to take stern action.

DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla said though there were many cases against the ACP, no action has been taken against him so far. He has suggested to form a special team to look into the case.

Thorough investigation might only shed light on other cases in which Jagannath has allegedly been involved, he stressed.

Condemning the incident, literateur Sara Aboobakar said if a senior officer harasses a woman in the police station, the plight of the common people is unimaginable.

Members of anti-atrocity campaigns Marlin Martis and Vidya Dinkar spoke on the occasion.
