Mangaluru City cops nab duo thieves- goods worth Rs 14.35 lakh seized.

Mangaluru, January 18: Mangaluru City cops have arrested two suspected thieves in relation to a theft case which took place on July 18th, 2013 at PC Mallappa and Company, Highlands in the city.

The accused are Mohammed (30) of Panemangalore, Bantwal taluk and Mohammed Asheef( 27), resident of Ira Village of Bantwal taluk. Stolen items worth Rs 14.35 lakh have been recovered from them.

Nityananda Hegde, manager of PC Mallappa and Company, Highlands, had stated in his complaint that when he had opened the showroom on July 19th, it was apparent that the showroom was ransacked and on checking it came to light that cash Rs 49,181 and Jaguar sanitary fittings totalling Rs 6.93 lakh was missing.

On Tuesday, January 6th, Dinaker Shetty, Mangaluru South Police Inspector had instructed two youth to stop who were moving suspiciously on a two­ wheeler, with a gunny bag placed between them on Rosario Church Road. The duo had fled along with the vehicle were caught later.

When probed, the accused failed to give proper justification pertaining to the wares in the sack and later admitted that it was burgled from the showroom.

On further questioning, the accused revealed that they had involved in other thefts which took place near Naguri and Kadri.

Cops have seized stolen items and a two wheeler without documents from them. The cops later have also seized stolen goods totally valued at Rs 14.35 lakh from a scrap shop in Bikarnakatte.
