Pulse Polio program scheduled on January 18th.

Mangaluru, January 1: A preparatory meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner at his office on December 31st.

As part of the National Polio Eradication Programme, it was decided to schedule the first round of Pulse Polio Programme for the year 2015 on January 18th. During this program, the District Health Department will ensure that most of the children of migrant labourers will be administered with Polio drops.

National Pulse Polio Programme Officer, Dr Satishchandra has informed that it in the district, they have placed a target to administer Polio vaccine to as many as 1,68,479 children below five years.

Dr Rukmini M, District Reproductive Child Health Officer has informed that apart from 189 supervisors, a total of 3,808 staff is deployed to administer Polio drops. There will be a total of 921 vaccination centres, 10 mobile squads and 26 transit vaccination centres, she said.

During the meet, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, ZP CEO- Tulasi Maddineni, District Health and Family Welfare Officer- Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Dr Rukmini M were present among others.
