Abandoned new born baby girl traced at Puttur is treated at Wenlock hospital.

Mangaluru, December 17: A new born baby girl was found abandoned by the street side at Puttur. On Wednesday December 17th, the baby was brought to Mangaluru for treatment.

The baby, weighing 2.3 kg, is believed to be born two days ago was abandoned on a block of stone by the street side at Kabaka in Puttur, without any cloth to cover her body.

On December 17th morning, a woman named Girija heard the cries of baby when she came out of her house to wash clothes. She then found the baby lying on the stone and took her inside. Girija informed her son Dinesh about the baby, who called up his friend Ajay, who is working in the health department at Belthangady.

Speaking to the media, Ajay said that as soon as Dinesh informed him about the abandoned baby, he called for 108 ambulance and took the infant to Puttur taluk hospital.

The doctors at the taluk hospital traced injuries on the baby’s neck and one hand was fractured. As per the doctors’ advice, Girija, Dinesh and Ajay later shifted the baby to Wenlock hospital, Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

It is gathered that the baby girl is being treated at the neonatal intensive care unit of Wenlock paediatric care centre.
