“A Regional Meet in Perinatology 2014” organized at Father Muller’s Medical College.

Mangaluru, December 6:  The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Fr Muller’s Medical College in association with the National Neonatology Forum-Karnataka chapter organized “A Regional Meet in Perinatology 2014” at Father Muller Medical College on Saturday, December 6th– 2014.

The chief guest Dr B Shantaram Baliga- President of National Neonatology Forum-Karnataka chapter, along with other dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the occasion by lighting the lamp.

Dr Shantaram Baliga delivered the key note address on “Community Perinatal Care”.

He said, ” It is sad that many newborn babies die daily in India, due to lack of facilities in the government run hospitals, lack of trained doctors/paediatricians- in some hospitals there are more ventilators than required medical staff. Karnataka govt offers various schemes and benefits, so citizens should avail such benefits during pregnancy and delivery.

Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues speaking on the occasion said that medical institutes should play an important role in perinatal care and be result oriented. Mothers should play a key role in caring and raising their newborn he said.

Dr Prema D’Cunha presented the welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Shannon Fernandes, and Professor. Joylene D’Almeida compered the program.
