Mangalore, May 17: The silver jubilee celebrations of the small Christian community (SCC) of Mangalore was held at St.Sebastian Church,Bendore on May 16,Thursday.In fact it was a memorable day for community people as the day began with a Eucharistic Mass led by Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza,Bishop of Mangalore.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General, Fr Herald Pereira, Fr Antony Serrao, Parish priest of Bendore church and Fr Walter D’souza, Director of SCC were present in the celebration.
JR Lobo, newly elected MLA from Mangalore south constituency has been felicitated during the function and Bishop congratulated Lobo over his victory.
Replying to the honour conferred on him, Lobo thanked all the community members for their overwhelming support for his victory in the recently concluded assembly elections.
He said in his speech that as a MLA, his priority would be to respond to the problems of the people and live up to their expectations and stated that every citizen has the responsibility of spreading the message of God.
A souvenir brought out by the SCC to commemorate its silver jubilee was released by Vicar General Fr Denis Moras Prabhu and an audio CD on SCC brought out by Fr Walter D’souza was released by Bishop.
On this occasion, an eminent personalities who have contributed immensely to the SCC over the past few years have been honored, those were Fr Gilbert D’souza,Fr walter D’souza, Sr Lydia Serrao,Sr Usha,LJ
The variety entertainments have been organized during the occasion to enthral the audience.
