MANGALORE: The semi finals and finals of ‘Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’, the first all India Konkani dance contest will be held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar in the city on May 18 and 19.
The top two winners in group and duet categories from seven audition centres of Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Honnavar, Kasaragod, Udupi and Mangalore will contest in the semi finals. The winners of the contest will take home prizes worth over Rs five lakh apart from trophies and certificates.
The contest has been jointly organized by Jagotik Konkani Songhotton, Mandd Sobhann, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan and Nach Sobhann. The main objective of organizing the event is to promote Konkani dance forms to raise funds for the activities of the organizations, said organizing committee convenor Eric Ozario.
“Several non-Konkani people have also qualified to compete in the semi finals. The grand awards ceremony will be held at 8.30pm on May 19,” he said.
Industrialists Ronald Colaco and MLA JR Lobo will be the guests.
