Land acquisition for run-way expansion at Mangaluru International Airport expected to begin soon.

Mangaluru, December 4: The State Government of Karnataka has approved to acquire land required to expand run-way at Mangaluru International Airport.

J T Radhakrishna, Director – MIA said, the Dakshina Kannada district administration had submitted a proposal to the State government to acquire 210 acres of land which would be handed over to the Airports Authority of India.

He said, Rs 121 crore is required to acquire the land out of which Rs 115 crore would be spent towards land acquisition and Rs 5 crore for rehabilitating the people who lose their land. If the runway is extended to 3,530 m, the airport can handle larger air crafts which can carry more passengers.
