Mangaluru, December 2: City might suffer from lack of milk supply for a day, since a protest was staged in front of KMF dairy at Kulshekar here, late evening on Monday December 1st, by a huge mass of KMF van conductors and drivers.
The protestors demanded for employee state insurance (ESI) and provident fund (PF) and salary hike.
One among the protestors spoke to the media and said, currently they are paid only Rs 250 per trip, and few have been working since 15 years.
He said, we assembled here at 5.30 pm as we had planned a meeting with the contractors to sort out the issue, but even till 10 pm they failed to arrive and hence staged protest. As a mark of the protest, we have decided to halt the milk supply in the city on Tuesday December 2nd , he said.
Official information about the halt of milk supply has not yet arrived.
