Mangalore, May 15: It has been reported that senior Yakshagana artiste was conferred with Pulincha Award at a programme organized on the premises of Kallurti temple in Balthila village of Bantwal taluk on May 14, Tuesday.
The award is instituted to honour senior artiste in Yakshagana, stated a release from Pulincha Seva Trust president Pulincha Sridhar Shetty.
Senior RSS leader Dr.Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat inaugurated the programme.
While Kumble Sunder Rao, former president of the Yakshagana Academy gave a brief about the contribution of Aruva Koragappa Shetty to Yakshagana, Umanath Kotian, former president of the Tulu Academy, presented the award to the veteran artiste.
Padmanabha Kottary, President, district BJP presided over the function.
Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli,former member, Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy, Rajesh Naik,Ullipady Guthu,Sridhar shetty Pulincha,president Pulincha Prathistana,Pratima Sridhar Shetty, Assistant Professor of St Aloysius College and among others were present.
