Glitch in playing State Anthem

Mangalore, May 14: Dakshina Kannada Zilla panchayat chief executive officer K.N.Vijayaprakash took officials of the Kannada and Culture department to task for showing disrespect to the Nadageethe during programme of Basava Jayanti celebrations organized at the Town Hall in Mangalore on May 13, Monday.

During a dance performance to the state anthem, a technical glitch was reported in the audio system.Vijayaprakash fumed at the officials for not taking enough care of procedures and protocol while organizing programmes and said such mistakes should be avoided.

The programme was organized by the district administration, Kannada and Culture department and Karavali Veerashaiva kshemabhivruddi Sangha.

He said that Basavanna was a great motivator as his vachanas are relevant at all times.”It is worrisome that a majority of birth anniversaries of great leaders are a declared holiday. This does not provide scope for people to attach importance to the day, he said.

Scholar Mahesh Chatpalli said that Basavanna was a visionary who had foreseen the future and wrote guidelines for the mankind through his vachanas.”A person can be a good citizen as well as a man of discipline by understanding the vachanas, he added.

DDPI Moses Jayashekar, Jangama Mutt pontiffs Siddeshwara Mahaswami, Rudramani Mahaswami and others were present.
